Simple Meditation To Start With

Meditation is getting popular worldwide these days. It's a great way to relax and unwind without having to resort to artificial help. But short of buying a meditation book, where else can you find information on how to do meditation?
The good news is that there are several easy methods to start meditating that you can do right now:
1. Walking meditation
With this method, you focus on your walking. Pay attention to what is happening as you walk. Notice how the ground feels beneath your feet. Feel the gentle breeze created by the air as it flows past your face and hands. Pay attention to the way your clothes move as you walk. See how your arms and legs and the rest of your body feel as you walk along.
2. Breathing meditation
This is another easy way to meditate. As you've probably guessed, this method concentrates on your breathing. Because everyone breathes, it's possible to do this meditation literally anywhere and not feel self conscious as you're doing it. Usually you'll take longer than normal breaths in, maybe hold your breath for a second or two and then slowly exhale. Some people visualize all their stress and tension flowing out of their body when they breathe out but you don't need to "see" this happen, simply getting a sense of it happening is normally enough.
3. Music meditation
We all have some music tracks that we find relaxing. Teenagers relax to the sound of heavy metal or drum'n'bass music but most of the rest of us find that more stressful than a method of relaxation. But you've almost certainly got a track or two that almost always relaxes you. Put it on your favorite player and allow the music to envelop you. Pay attention to the sounds as they come out of your headphones or speakers. Notice how the different instruments sound and contribute to the overall "feel" of the track. Allow yourself to fully participate in the experience in much the same way as you allow yourself to get fully involved with an enjoyable movie.
These are just three of the simple methods of meditation that you can use in your daily life. There are plenty of other ways to practice meditation - you may find a local class or you could use one of the many resources on the internet. Whichever method you choose, make meditating part of your daily routine and you'll find that you become a calmer, more relaxed person.

Common Health Mistakes

All of us make little health mistakes that cause damage to our bodies in the long run - simply because we are unaware we are doing something wrong. Here are some of the most common mistakes made by many of us.

Crossing our legs
----------------------------
Do you cross your legs at your knees when sitting? Although we may believe that this is the lady-like elegant way to sit, sitting this way cuts down circulation to your legs. If you don"t want varicose veins to mar the beauty of your legs and compromise your health, uncross your legs every time you realise you have one knee on top of the other. The best way to sit is to simply place both legs together on the floor, balancing your weight equally. If you feel like changing position, instead of crossing your legs, simply move both legs together to one side. As an alternative, you could also consider crossing your legs loosely at the ankles. This is a classically elegant way to sit, and is far better for your legs and your health than sitting with your legs crossed at your knees.

Not changing our toothbrush
--------------------------------
How often do you change your toothbrush? Most of us wait until most of the bristles have either fallen off, or are in such bad shape that we"d be embarrassed to pull out our brush in public. However, since not many of us need to pull out our brush in public, we carry on with our frayed one until we lose it. Replace your toothbrush often. Damaged bristles can harm the enamel, and don"t massage your gums well. If you find brushing your teeth a pain like I do, but know you must do it, you might as well be doing it right. Imagine going through the annoyance of brushing your teeth twice a day only to find out that you"re damaging your enamel every time you clean your teeth. Also, use a brush with soft bristles unless your dentist has advised otherwise.

Eating out often
---------------------------------
There are oils that are high in cholesterol, and oils that cause little harm and are better for your heart. However, no matter how light the oil is, it is never a good idea to eat too much of it. Avoid fried foods.Remember that in all probability your favourite Indian food restaurant throws a huge, HUGE chunk of butter in a tiny bowl of dal. Rita, who worked in the kitchen of a 5 star hotel, was shocked when she saw the cook chop a 500gm butter slab in half, and throw half into a Paneer Makhani dish. No wonder the customers left licking their fingers. And no wonder they felt so stuffed and heavy afterwards. Limit outdoor eating unless you know that you"re getting served light and healthy food.

Skipping breakfast.
----------------------------------

Never, ever skip breakfast. Remember, when you wake up in the morning it"s been around 10-12 hours since your last meal. Your body needs food now, more than at any other time. Eat a heavy breakfast. You will then be busy through the day, and the calories will get expended quickly. If you are trying to diet, eat a light dinner. Here are some more common health mistakes we make. Being informed and making a few changes can help make us feel a whole lot better.

High heels
---------------------------------
High heels sure look great, but they're murder for your back. This however doesn't mean you should steer clear of stilettos. Wear them, but not when you know you will be walking around a lot. Wear them when going out for lunch or dinner - when the only walking you will be doing is to your car, to the table, and back. Avoid high heels when you are going somewhere on foot. If you are constantly tempted to wear your heels, take a good look at your flats. Is there something about them you dislike? Invest in a new pair of beautiful flats or shoes with a low heel. Buy something you love, that you will enjoy wearing. If possible, get a matching bag. You will then enjoy your flats as much as you do your heels.

Sleeping on a soft bed.
---------------------------------

You don't have to sleep on the floor be kind to your back, but do make sure you have a firm mattress. Although a mattress on springs is soft and lovely to sink into, it's bad for your back. If you already have an old bed with springs, you don't need to invest in a new one - simply get a thick wooden plank put over the springs, and place the mattress on the plank. Similarly, if your mattress is old and lumpy, throw it out and get a new one. Your neck and your back will thank you. The same rule applies to sofas. If you will be spending hours on a sofa, get a firm yet comfortable one. Sofas you completely sink into are not the best idea.

Pillows
---------------------------------

No matter how comfortable sleeping with ten cushions is, have pity on your neck and resist. Sleep with one pillow, and make sure it is not too thick. If your pillow gets lumpy, discard it and go for a new one. Get a thin pillow if you sleep on your stomach, and something a little thicker if you sleep on your back, to give your neck adequate support

Not exercising

So all of us know we should exercise more, but many of us don't. This is a health mistake we consciously make! And why is that? Simply because we refuse to admit the damage we are causing to our bodies by not working out. A number of people only start working out once they've experienced a warning signal. Don't wait for a heart attack to strike before you decide to opt for a lifestyle change. Make the change now. You don't need to train for the marathon to be in top shape. Half an hour of brisk walking three to four times a week will make a world of difference to your health. You could then increase this to forty minutes, four times a week - and you're all set. If you haven't exercised for a week, you're making a mistake.

Weight Loss Through Simple Home

Treatment with Simple Home Remedies

Remedy # 1

This one is not actually a remedy, but it is the most important thing you must do in order to keep your weight in a normal level. And that is, stick to a healthy diet. The following are the dietary guidelines you must follow in order to keep your waistline healthy: -

1 Do not overindulge in eating any one type of food. Keep your diet balanced.

2 Keep the intake of sugars and fats to a minimum. The fats to be avoided are the saturated fats and the trans-fatty acids.

3 Too much carbohydrates build weight. Hence, the intake of rice and potatoes must be reduced. Wheat, barley and maize are ideal substitutes for rice in people who has weight problems.

4 You must have at least one bitter vegetable per day. This helps in the proper metabolism of fats and do not allow them to accumulate in the body.

5 Never eat to full capacity.

6 Consume a lot of fluids in the day. This helps to eliminate the undigested foods effectively.

7 Exercise is extremely important. It is necessary to indulge in mild physical activity after each meal even if you cannot make time to go to a gym.

Remedy # 2

Have a totally salt-free diet once a week. This helps reduce weight. Also skip a meal once in a month.

Remedy # 3

Prepare chutney of mint leaves. This must be taken with every single meal. It helps in the proper breaking down of the fats. Also begin your day with a cup of mint tea.

Remedy # 4

Vitamin C is very good for people who are looking to reduce their weight. Since amalaki (Emblica officinalis, Indian Gooseberry) is the best source of vitamin C in the world, it is good to eat two three fruits of the amalaki each day. Also have a glass of any one citrus fruit – orange, lemon, etc. – each day. Green leafy vegetables also have good vitamin C content. They can be consumed raw in the form of salads.

Remedy # 5

Honey is very good for mobilizing the fats in the body. Take a spoonful of honey half an hour after every meal. A good remedy is to mix a teaspoonful of honey and lemon juice and have it twice a day. Alternatively, you can take a bowl of warm water, put a teaspoonful each of honey and lemon juice and drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. This is a very good remedy to dissolve the excess fats.

Remedy # 6

The Indian plum, i.e. jambula, is renowned for its weight controlling properties. Jambula dissolves the excess fats and gets them properly utilized in the body. Take four leaves of the jambula plant and soak them in a glass of water overnight. In the morning, discard the leaves and drink the water on an empty stomach. If you do this everyday, then you will find a positive reduction in your weight in three weeks or a month.

Best Exercise For Flat Stomach

You can try step walking. Buy a pair of dumbwells weighing about 4 to 5 kgs each depending on which one is comfortable for you.

Hold both the weights in each of your hands and climb up and down a flight of stairs ( atleast 10 steps ). if you climb up and down, count it as one and go up to 15 times.

Repeat the exercise in three sets. that means you would would walked up and down 45 times.

before you start this, try jogging for about ten minutes.

As prisha sais, Do sit ups of 10 times, 3 sets each. Rest for a minute before each set.

A strick No No to sweets, Ghee , butter , jam and chocolates.

Change your diet habits slightly. if you are too much of a rice eater, then substitute it with roti for dinner atleast four days in a week.

Scientists develop all-seeing eye for surveillance

Scientists develop all-seeing eye for surveillance

A new video surveillance system will give law enforcement a godlike omniscience, with its all-seeing eye, one that will leave nothing to chance.
The system is currently under development by the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate (S&T).
In the event of a terrorist attack, investigators can pore over the most recent video, using pan, zoom, and tilt controls to reconstruct who did what and when.
Because these controls are virtual, different regions of a crime scene can feasibly be studied by separate investigative teams simultaneously.
The Imaging System for Immersive Surveillance (or ISIS) takes new video camera and image-stitching technology and bolts it to a ceiling, mounts it on a roof, or fastens it to a truck-mounted telescoping mast.
Like a bug-eyed fisheye lens, ISIS sees very wide. But that's where the similarity ends.
Whereas a typical fisheye lens distorts the image and can only provide limited resolution, video from ISIS is perfectly detailed, edge-to-edge.
That's because the video is made from a series of individual cameras stitched into a single, live view -- like a high-resolution video quilt.
"Coverage this sweeping, with detail this fine, requires a very high pixel count," says programme manager John Fortune, of S&T's Infrastructure and Geophysical Division.
"ISIS has a resolution capability of 100 megapixels."
Many of the ISIS capabilities were adapted from technology previously developed by MIT's Lincoln Lab for military applications.

'Save Rs 1,000 through Windows 7'

'Save Rs 1,000 through Windows 7'

Quote:
Windows 7, the latest operating system (OS) from the Microsoft stable, can help businesses save about Rs 1,000 per PC annually on power, a study today said.

According to a report by Mindteck's Smart Energy Lab, companies can save about Rs 1,000 per computer a year on an average through Windows 7 as compared to older operating systems like Windows XP or Vista.

"Energy efficiency is a key factor that companies are concentrating on, and the research shows that the new OS helps companies to not only save money but also contributes to the various green initiatives they are taking," Microsoft India Director (Windows Client) Sumeet Khanna said.

As organisations look at saving on operating expenses and reducing exposure to fluctuating energy prices, green initiatives are among the top focus areas in corporate IT roadmaps.

"Optimising desktop power management is one of the simplest, yet effective, ways to reduce power consumption in an enterprise. Increasing energy efficiency on Windows 7 has been one of the core areas for Microsoft," he said.

The study said that Windows 7 focuses on reducing overall power consumption by investing in performance optimisation, idle resource utilisation, device power management and key end-user scenarios.

"Cost savings of up to USD 40.44 (84.46 per cent reduction) per client per year, not including LCD consumption, can be realised by ensuring that desktop PCs or laptops automatically enter sleep states during working hours, and at the end of the day, if the user forgets to manually turn off their PC," Mindteck Global Infrastructure head, Infrastructure, Services and Managed Services, Andrew J Hacker said.

Cost savings for businesses range from USD 14,821 (about Rs 7 lakh) at 500 PCs to a significant USD 296,426 (about Rs 1.4 crore) per year at 10,000 PCs (LCD not included), he added.

Windows 7 augments standard power management components such as hard drive spin down and monitor shut-off. IT administrators can also monitor energy consumption and adjust power settings across their organisations, reducing the amount of wasted energy.

Indian American science teacher honoured by Obama

An Indian American science teacher is among the pedagogues nominated by US President Barack Obama as a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Radhika Plakkot is among 103 Maths and Science teachers who have been selected for this prestigious award from across the country.

Plakkot, who teaches Biology at the Huntingtown High School, Calvert County in Maryland, is the only Indian American in the group of 103 teachers.

"Science and technology have long been at the core of America's strength and competitiveness, and the scientists and engineers who have led America on its remarkable path to success share something very precious: science and math teachers who brought these critical subjects to life," Obama said in a statement.

"Today we honour some of the best of these teachers and thank them for their dedication. They are inspirations not just to their students, but to the nation and the world," he said.

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is awarded annually to the best pre-college-level Science and Mathematics teachers from across the country.

The winners are selected by a panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians, and educators following an initial selection process done at the state level.

Each year the award alternates between Mathematics and Science teachers teaching Kindergarten through 6th grade, and those teaching 7th through 12th grades.

This year it goes to teachers teaching 7th through 12th grades.

Winners of this Presidential honour receive a USD 10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.

They also receive an expenses-paid trip to Washington, for an awards ceremony and several days of educational and celebratory events, including visits with members of Congress and science agency leaders.

Last spring, President Obama called on all Americans to join the effort to elevate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education as a national priority.

The President's public-private "Educate to Innovate" initiative, which was launched last fall, has attracted more than USD 500 million in donations and in-kind support from corporations, philanthropies, service organisations, and others to help inspire students to pursue studies and careers in Maths and Science.

Last month, Cabinet officials and others in the Federal government answered the President's call to action by volunteering in local classrooms as part of National Lab Day, a nationwide initiative to build local communities of support for teachers and students studying mathematics and science.

What Should We Eat To Stay Cool In Summer

1
Drinking lassi is good in summer. You can have either sweet or salted lassi. .drink lots of fluids such as water, nimbu pani, lassi and fruit juices. Do not rely on coke and pepsi alone for fluid requirements. You should eat foods which are low in calorific value such as foods which are not too fatty or fried.  The easiest snacks during the summer time are fruits and vegetables. Make a fruit salad with grapes, apple slices and melons, water melons. Cut up crunchy vegetables, like carrots, cucumber, radish, tomato, cabbage etc. Fruits and veggies are packed with powerful nutrients and they help keep you hydrated when temperatures heat up. Cold soup is a treat usually reserved for the summer months. Avoid fried snacks. Try to keep your meals light and do not eat too many times a day. Usually three to four meals pattern is good during summers....take care teeth_smileFoods
2
Eat lot of fresh greens, cold salads, cucumbers/carrots.
Juices are good but eating the fruit by itself is more beneficial . In case of juices take freshly squeezed juices without sugar. Try a combination of fruit and veg in juice...

watermelons, chilled apple, pear, pomegranates, oranges are all great.
Mint and ginger juice, Buttermilk, coconut water, cane juice, milk shakes.

Summer is all about fluids.. Have light meals specially in the evenings and drink lots of water.

Avoid spicy food, heavy meals, fatty/greasy food, chips, sodas, pickles, tea, coffee...

What Does Fat Free Really Mean?

To be labeled "Low Fat":

The food must contain less than ½ gram of fat per serving.

The food must contain 3 grams or less of fat per serving.

The food must be at least 25 percent lower in fat than a comparable food.

The food must contain 1/3 fewer calories, OR ½ the fat OR 2/3 the sodium of a comparable food (not necessarily all three).

Some foods (especially meat and dairy products) appear to have less fat than they really do. For example, if a milk or cheese label reads 2% milk or 2% cheese, this means that 2 percent of the product volume (NOT the calories) comes from milk fat.

Vegetable Soup Is Excellent Diet Food

Thick Vegetable Soup, meaning a soup without straining the vegetable, makes an excellent Diet food.

Leafy vegetables like Spinach make the ideal soup in this category.

Cook chopped leafy vegetables in a pressure cook with a few cloves of garlic and some water, until done. Tomatoes and carrots may be added for improved taste.

Run the cooked vegetable through a mixie to make a thin paste.

Season with salt, dhana-jeera (coriander-cumin) powder.

This Soup may be eaten both, hot or cold, according to taste.

It is quite nutritious, even though some vitamins are admittedly lost, through cooking.

However, the proteins are intact and not all the vitamins are burnt out.

This Soup may be had before a meal, when it fills the Stomach and therefore reduces hunger.

If a person is actively dieting, this Soup can substitute for an entire meal, without any trouble at all!

Tips To Make Kids Eat All Vegetables

I am not a mother, but I was so hard to me eat vegetables when I was a child, my mother always prepare veggies,  every time she prepared a salad, or baked with vegetables to accompany the meal was a horror film to see the leaves, stems and Other pieces of green seemed to be alive, it was horrible. And after that I grew up and one of the things I love the most is vegetables.

And now I think that veggies are not guilty to not eat them, now I realize that what's needed for children to eat their vegetables is to have a little of IMAGINATION.

Please do not forget that some of the food more nutritious, delicious and benefical to our bodies are composed of VEGETABLES, veggies has vitamins and minerals, sufficient water and help prevent diseases of obesity and high cholesterol, so it's important to eat vegetables on a regular basis and adopt them as part of our daily nutrition.

Hours I could be talking about the benefits of vegetables, but we will focus on the topic. HOW TO MAKE OUR CHILDREN consume vegetables ¡¡

Well my first advice is

• Use your IMAGINATION, one of the things that make a child do not eat vegetables is the way we present veggies, don’t serve it in the side of the dish, or when you cook them does not get over the food, simple fact of seeing the plants in this position will cause the child detests vegetables immediately. On the other hand you can do is use your imagination as I said, you can improve the presentation and have fun, prepare a salad that has a clown's face, add fruits to some salads generates a pleasant smell, use your ingenuity to create forms and shapes that you draw attention to your child, a character from the comics or their favorite TV series, what matters here is that you use your IMAGINATION.

• There are many vegetables that you can do as cakes and delicious desserts, you can make a carrot cake, or you can make an omelet containing broccoli or cauliflower or mix the two of them, remember that how we present things is what makes us eat until the last grain of rice

• Use an incentive to eat the vegetables, for example you can offer this rich dessert you’re your child likes, in the moment if you have not veggies that you can use to make some delicious dessert then strive yourself a little more and get a dessert simple as a pudding or a custard and offer them as a reward for having made the great feat of eating vegetables

• Finally, if your son likes meat, like chicken or beef, use your imagination again and mixed vegetables with meat, you can create a salad that contains not only vegetables but also meat and that unpalatable assumption that children say the veggies has will be blurred by the delicious taste of meat, of course, must be cooked.

Do not forget to use your imagination and ingenuity to make the kitchen won’t be a hell, on the contrary it became a good time for you and yours

Money Saving Tips for the Kitchen

Hi,
Here are some tips which help you to save your money.

    *  If you accidentally over salt  a dish while it's still cooking, drop in a peeled potato, it will absorb the excess salt.
    * Place a slice of bread in hardened brown sugar to soften.
    * To keep marshmallows from turning hard, store them in the freezer. When thawed, they're like fresh.
    * To keep marshmallows from sticking together in the bag, toss a little powdered sugar into the bag and mix.
    * Wrap celery in aluminum foil before placing in the refrigerator, it will keep for weeks.
    * For maximum flavor and long life, wrap your prized onions (like Vidalias) individually in newspaper and store in a cool, dark place.
    * Cut a roll of clear plastic wrap in half to use for individually wrapping brownies, cookies and other small items. You end up with two narrow rolls of the perfect size wrap.
    * Bread stale? Don't toss it out, cut it into cubes or process into crumbs; place in a freezer bag and freeze for later use in recipes.
    * Save money by using low-salt beef, chicken and vegetable bases, available in any supermarket, to make the broth called for in recipes instead of using canned broth.
    * Use the cooking water of potatoes meant for mashing, in place of milk, for lighter and fluffier mashed potatoes! Drain potatoes first and incorporate the liquid back into the potatoes a little at a time as you mash or whip them.
    * When you don't have cheesecloth, tie your spices up in a coffee filter for pickling or other uses. It works just fine!
    * Store shelled nuts in the freezer to retain their freshness.
    * Use an ordinary wooden or plastic clothespin to seal bags of chips, packets of crackers, and cereal-box liners.
    * Bread will stay fresher longer at room temperature or frozen. It is best not to store bread in the refrigerator.
    * Honey is best stored in a dry place because it tends to absorb moisture and become granulated.
    * Every time the door of the oven is opened, the oven temperature drops 25 to 30 degrees. Use the oven window to conserve energy.

Reason behind obesity

There are many reasons for obesity. In normal way we can say obesity is deu to your eating habbit and daily life style. Today in India most of the people are moving towards fast food. Wafers, French fries, Burger, Pizzas....
They dont want to eat healthy food.
Not only food habbit but they have changed their life style also. People dont want to walk even for short distance.
Now if scientifically i say
there are following reasons for obesity
Causes of Obesity

There are many factors that contribute to obesity; these could range from genetic factors to depression. Obesity may be caused due to the following reasons:
Genetic factors
Genetic inheritance probably influences a person's chance of becoming fat more than any other factor. These genes enhance the storage of fat when food is limited and cause an increased risk of obesity when food is abundant and energy expenditure is reduced.

Eating Habits
Certain eating habits of people may lead to obesity.

Nibbling between meals is a potential cause for obesity.

Some people consume food faster, without enough time to chew, therefore tend to consume more food.

Obese people respond to external cues to eat rather than internal hunger signals. They eat when it is mealtime or when they are surrounded by tasty foods instead when they are hungry. People tend to overeat when they are depressed or in order to avoid wastage of food.

Physical activity
Obesity is found in persons who lead sedentary lives and pay less importance to physical education. Though obesity can occur at any age, this is more common during middle age when physical activity decreases without corresponding decrease in food consumption.

how to make potato chips at home

It's very easy to prepare potato chips at home..

Ingredients:
* 6 or more medium lg. potatoes
* Oil or fat for deep frying
* Salt

Preparation:
Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice very thin.

An old fashioned cabbage slicer can be used (careful of the fingers) - or use a sharp knife or food processor with a thin slicing blade.
Put the slices at once into a bowl of cold water and let stand for at least one hour. Ice water is best, but you can set the whole bowl in the refrigerator if you wish. Dry well by shaking them in a towel.
Fry in hot oil at 390 degrees F. until a light golden brown. Don't try frying too many at once, better to put one layer on the frying basket. Drain on paper towels or any kind of plain crumpled absorbent paper.
If you haven't any paper, use a worn dish towel. Salt lightly. These can be kept for some time if they are sealed into plastic bags or containers after they have cooled.

Best Fat Burning Foods

Fat-burning foods are rich in fibre and protein and are poor in fat. Protein foods do require more energy to digest than carbohydrates or fats. The protein content of these foods boosts your metabolism and increases the rate at which your body burns stored fat. Fibre also provides high satiety value, so you feel fuller, longer.

The top fat-burning foods

Whole grain

Whole grain breads and cereals are a great source of fibre. They generally take a longer time and more energy to digest. Try having a bowl of whole grain cereal with skim milk for breakfast, and combining two fat-burning foods that will give your morning a fat-burning boost.

Beans

Beans are low in fat and high in quality protein. They also have the added bonus of soluble fibre's disease-preventing qualities. The soluble fibre traps bile and lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol without affecting HDL (good) cholesterol.

So load up on a serving of beans for lunch or dinner.

Hot chillies

Chillies are full of vitamins. The compound capsaicin present in chillies temporarily stimulates your body to release some stress hormones, which boost your metabolism and cause you to burn more calories. But limit your intake to one or two in a day, as they may cause heartburn.

Lean meat

The leanest meat pieces are excellent sources of protein with low fat content. The protein helps boost your metabolism, lose fat and build lean muscle tissue so you burn more calories.

Low-fat dairy products

Low fat yogurt or milk can boost weight loss efforts due to calcium content, according to a study in the April issue of Obesity Research. They also contain a hunger suppressant protein called casein that helps reduce hunger pangs. Another study published in 2008 in the Journal of Nutrition & Metabolism showed that consuming a lot of dairy foods may help people who are trying to control their weight, by burning more fat and consuming more calories without putting on excessive kilos.

Eggs

Eggs are also a good source of high protein. So start having eggs for breakfast, as research shows that the morning meal fires up your metabolism and increases your energy levels to tackle the day ahead or your morning workout. If you are worried about your cholesterol levels, then you may avoid the egg yolk.

Green tea

Green tea has been known as a health drink for years. In addition to providing a low calorie alternative to sugary sodas, cold coffees and frappucinos (and saving on calorie intake), green tea contains caffeine, which is a decent fat burner. Green tea also has high amounts of catechin and polyphenols, which give your body a small boost in burning up calories. Catechins appear to prevent absorption of fat and to stabilise glucose levels in the body.

Green leafy vegetables

Green leafy vegetables are packed with vitamins and minerals and fibre. The fibre helps to burn fat. It also increases satiety and gives a feeling of fullness.

Berries

Berries are a powerhouse of nutrition -- full of vitamins and minerals. The fibre found in berries makes them a fat burning food.

Almonds

Almonds are a fatty food, but they can help burn body fat. They are loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and heart-healthy fat. They are also a good source of fibre and protein. Nuts also help your body maintain good levels of fat burning hormones, as well as control your appetite and cravings so that you essentially eat less calories overall, even though you're consuming a high-fat food.

Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits contain vitamin C and vitamin C possesses fat burning property. It trims down the efficacy of fat. It can lessen the fat content. Additionally, it can also liquefy the solid fat into diluted one. When fat gets diluted, it loses its ability to stay within the system; rather it washes out from the body effectively.

Vitamin C functions on cholesterol accumulation as well. Hence it reduces the possibility of cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels.

To enjoy the flavor of these fat burning foods rich in vitamin C, you can add oranges, limes, tangerines, and grape fruits in your daily diet. It will definitely enhance your metabolism as well as help you to regulate your cholesterol level.

Soybean

Lecithin is a chemical property of soybean. It helps in making sheath to your body cell, hence protects cells from accumulating fat. It is also capable of breaking fat contents that are already deposited in your body.

You can eat soy products several times a week in order to get rid off the problem of being obese.

Fresh Fruit

Pectin is an essential element that creates a natural limitation on the body cell regarding the amount of fat consumption. Pectin can be found in apples and in most of the berries and other fresh fruits. Pectin can absorb watery substances due to its water binding property. It helps releasing fats from cells. Hence fresh fruits can be an ideal choice for fat burning foods.

Garlic Oil

Garlic oil is found to be effective to reduce the amount of fatty acids from the body cells. If you take this as a part of fat burning foods, it can lower down the level of fat deposits. Garlic including garlic oil offers antibiotic solution. Therefore, you can use it for many bacterial infections.

Liquid Fats

It is not true that all fats are bad for your health. Rather you can consider liquid fats as one of the most essential fat burning foods. It helps your system to eliminate hard fatty substances from the body. Corn oil, Peanut oil, Safflower oil and Sunflower seed oil are great sources of liquid fats.

The liquid fats actually break down the hard fat content by releasing phospholipids fatty acids. Liquid fats functions in two ways. First of all, they provide you the required fats that are needed by your body. Secondly, they help your system to remove the hard fats from the body itself.

Homemade Aloe Vera Juice Recipe

Only the inner gel of the leaves should be taken, as the outer portion of the leaf contains substances which can cause diarrhoea.
The gel can be scraped out with a sharp knife, from leaves which are fully grown and shortly about to turn yellow.
This gel can be spread onto Irish moss, an herb which contains a natural gelling agent called carrageen, which absorbs it to get an even gel.
A little sodium benzoate may be added as a preservative.  49_49

Is maggi noodles good or harmful for health?

YES IT IS HARMFUL..

Ramen and similar products are often criticized as being unhealthy or junk food. A single serving of instant noodles is high in carbohydrates but low in fiber, vitamins and minerals. Noodles are typically fried as part of the manufacturing process, resulting in high levels of saturated fat and/or trans fat. Additionally, if served in an instant broth, it typically contains monosodium glutamate (MSG) as well as a high amount of sodium, usually in excess of 60%, the U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowance.

While many processed convenience foods leave much to be desired nutritionally, the particular concern over ramen is a response to its use as a dietary staple for many Americans. College students in particular consume large amounts of instant noodles; the wide availability, very low cost (often below 25¢), ease and speed of preparation, and portability of the product make it appealing to young adults with little money and/or time to spare. A popular college urban legend states that a student gave himself scurvy by living on nothing but ramen for an entire year.

The most recent controversy concerns dioxin and other hormone-like substances that could theoretically be extracted from the packaging and glues used to pack the instant noodles. As hot water is added, it was reasoned that harmful substances could seep into the soup. After a series of studies were conducted, various organizations requested changes in the packaging.

REVERSING CLIMATE CHANGE - Who's the greenest of them all? India

I: Indian consumers are the greenest in the world, says a global survey of 17 countries, released on a day when the Municipal Corporation of Delhi became the nation's first civic body to cash in on cutting down carbon emissions. A municipal compost plant in Okhla -- run by the private sector ILFS group -- generat- ed a first, modest cheque of Rs 5 lakh in carbon emission reduction (CER) credits for its plan to curb carbon emission by more than 9,000 tonnes over the next 10 years by stopping methane leaks from garbage.
“In an age in which American consumerism has nudged most of the developing world into aping its values, such success stories illustrate public-private partnership model is the way to go,“ said Dr Rajendra K.
Pachauri, chairman of the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change.
CERs, or carbon credits, are environmental currency, issued by the United Nations -- after a rigorous procedure that can last two years; the Okhla plant was cleared in one -- to a project that cuts carbon emis- sions. The credits can then be traded on international exchanges like shares. Conducted by the National Geographic Society and Globe- scan, an international opinion research consultancy, the sur- vey of 17,000 consumers said India not only retained its first position from 2009 but increa- sed its lead over other nations.
Brazil is ranked No. 2, while US consumers are ranked last, just below Canada. The survey uses an index of consumption habits and their environmental impact in five categories -- goods, food, hous- ing, transport and attitudes.
India's preference of small cars, its low vehicle density (12 cars per 1,000 people; US has 765 per 1,000), its penchant for fruits and vegetables and local- ly grown foods over imports -- these contribute to the score.
“India has a good baseline,“ said Anumita Roy Choudhury, a transport expert with Delhi's Centre for Science and Env- ironment. “Our carbon footprint is low in part due to our sus- tainable transport practices -- high usage of public transport and non-motorised transport.“
Indians prefer motorcy- cles/scooters and mostly choose to live close to their destina- tions, the survey noted. But, as experts note, this is changing.
“A shift towards buying big cars has begun. The emphasis of transport infrastructure should be to enable public trans- port, walking and cycling, not build expressways, cloverleafs and flyovers,“ said Choudhury.
Quoting a study, she said 60 per cent of Delhi's commuters used public transport in 2001 but by 2008, that number was down to just 4 per cent.
Other experts said there wasn't much difference in the consumption patterns of the rich in India and in the West.
The middle class is not driven by environmental concerns but by what it can afford. “Use-and- throw mentality has not set in yet,“ said Chandra Bhushan, associate director, CSE. “As prosperty rises, so does the carbon footprint.“
